The topic of dispersion is as integral to statistics as is the topic of central tendency.
It is observed that all data points in a given set of observation has tendency to cluster around a central point called central tendency.
But it has also been observed that while data points can have the same central tendency the amount of scatter around that central points can be different.
Dispersion is a way to mathematically found out the scatteredness of the data around the central tendency point.
