The feedback the CFA gives back on section scores is <50%, 50-70%, or >70% and then which band you fall into (if you do not pass), which is how far away you were from passing. Its well accepted that if you get 70%+ on all sections you'll pass. But I've talked to people with <50% on a section and passed. Some candidates skip studying a section (like Econ), as they can afford to do poorly. I've never heard of anyone with less than 50% on Ethics pass - that is one section you need to do well on and probably the last one you should study so its fresh. Consider also that there are three options on the multiple choice questions. So blind guessing will get you 33%. If you can eliminate one answer, you have a 50% chance of getting it right. There's a lot of combinations, but for example you could get 70% score overall by "knowing" 50.8% of them, eliminating one answer on 16.7%, and totally guessing on 32.5%
