Oval/Rounded Rectangle/Circle: Represents any process having a start and an end activity. Rectangles: Represents a process activity or step. Diamonds: Used when there is a decision to be made or a question to be answered, such as Yes/No or True/False. The path to be taken is determined by the answer to the question. Arrow lines: Used to show the flow of control from one step to the other. They also indicate progress from one step to another. Parallelograms: Used to represent input/output.

Terminator: An oval flow chart shape indicating the start or end of the process. Process: A rectangular flow chart shape indicating a normal process flow step. Decision: A diamond flow chart shape indication a branch in the process flow. Connector: A small, labeled, circular flow chart shape used to indicate a jump in the process flow. (Shown as the circle with the letter “A”, below.) Data: A parallelogram that indicates data input or output (I/O) for a process. Document: Used to indicate a document or report (see image in sample flow chart below).

Dear Friend > Flowchart A flowchart is a pictorial representation of an algorithm in which steps are drawn in the form of different shapes of boxes and the logical flow is indicated by interconnecting arrows. Flowcharts are also called block diagrams, flow diagrams, system charts, procedural charts, run diagrams and logic charts. Flowcharts are compared with the blue print of a building. Flowcharts depict the flow of data, documents, various steps to be repeated(looping) and alternatives available at a particular step. In short Flowchart is a coherent, pictorial representation or model that provides a means of recording, analyzing and communicating information. A flow chart shows Order a Burgerthe break down of a task into separate stepsThey can be usedto represent how programs work A diagrammatic representation that illustrates the sequence of operations to be performed to get the solution of a problem. Generally drawn in the early stages of formulating computer solutions.Facilitate communication between programmers and business people/end users. Once the flowchart is drawn, it becomes easy to write the program in any high level language. Must for the better documentation of a complex program. Thanks

**FLOWCHARTS** A flowchart is a diagrammatic representation that illustrates the sequence of operations to be performed to get the solution of a problem. Flowcharts are generally drawn in the early stages of formulating computer solutions. Flowcharts facilitate communication between programmers and business people. These flowcharts play a vital role in the programming of a problem and are quite helpful in understanding the logic of complicated and lengthy problems. Once the flowchart is drawn, it becomes easy to write the program in any high level language. Often we see how flowcharts are helpful in explaining the program to others. Hence, it is correct to say that a flowchart is a must for the better documentation of a complex program. Thanks

A flow chart is a type of diagram representing a process using different symbols containing information about steps or a sequence of events. Each of these symbols is linked with arrows to illustrate the flow direction of the process. It helps to to analyze, improve, document and manage a process or program. Its a computer science which has the following types of symbols to represent a process or program: **Oval/Rounded Rectangle/Circle:** Represents any process having a start and an end activity. **Rectangles:** Represents a process activity or step. **Diamonds:** Used when there is a decision to be made or a question to be answered, such as Yes/No or True/False. The path to be taken is determined by the answer to the question. **Arrow lines:** Used to show the flow of control from one step to the other. They also indicate progress from one step to another. **Parallelograms:** Used to represent input/output.

> `Flow Chart Defined` A flow chart is a graphical or symbolic representation of a process. Each step in the process is represented by a different symbol and contains a short description of the process step. The flow chart symbols are linked together with arrows showing the process flow direction. > `Common Flowchart Symbols` Different flow chart symbols have different meanings. The most common flow chart symbols are: Terminator: An oval flow chart shape indicating the start or end of the process. > A simple flow chart showing the symbols described above can be seen > below:
