Yes, but usually they take up 1st attempt candidates and that too with good marks. if U have this then u can join otherwise u should go for reference

Yes u can get ARTICLSESHIP in big four without reference.
Remember following points-
1.clear both group in first attempt.
2.prepare simple resume.if you clear immediately send it to all big four firms.
3.prepare well for interview.Revise accounting standards and standards on auditing and provisions of tax.specially prepare well for subject which u like.here manager get to know many things about you.
5.good attitude and communication skill.
then u will get Articlseship without any reference.When u clear in first attempt your marks also not consider.Just first attempt clear and crack interview.

Yes..I don't know why you have feeling that you can get articleship in Big four only on reference.
If you Crack their interview questions & if they find you suitable for your organisation, they will definitely provide you articleship training.
When you go for interview, be in professional attire, dont be nervous & answer their questions.
