Hie Renu Best way to remember sections in law in CA final is to write sections in some separate book and you can read that once before starting study for law. Any sections you come across while study you can write in that separate book of sections and like that you can easily remember it. You should write both audit and law sections in one book and while writing also you will remember it. Try it..its effective.

Hi Its dependent on capability of mind , which varies from person to person. Sections at final level are utmost important . One should learn not only topic but sections so that s/he can correlate the question/case study while writing answer during examination and as well as while applying practically. Its not that one should learn for exam only , you have to prepare for future also. Now answer to your question . There are 3 subjects where you need to remember and learn sections viz. DT, IDT & Law. DT & IDT ============ **DT** For this you have to learn from basic section to those which are new (and amended) for Final DT. Here basic knowledge of section is utmost necessary as here question of conceptual clarity plays a huge role. You should learn core area and their sections. You can updated with main chapters and learn those sections which were asked frequently and can be asked in exam. Don't waste your time for those general sections . ======= **IDT** In IDT there are 3 laws so you may mix up sections if you haven't studied properly. Here what is important is to learn the core area of sections and Rules framed for those sections. You can remember the sections for service tax and the main part for custom and excise . Law === **Law** This is the easiest subject having more complexities. Here you should not think to learn sections apart from co law ( also selected areas only) and for other acts you can go with penalty and those sections which were asked frequently. For company law you can go step by step and its easy to learn section with content properly. I should not that its not like knowing section but learning sections. First you have to study well and make proper note so that you can read and know the section very fast at later level and during exams. You have to make proper planning and learn again and again after some interval so that you can recap all the things with sections. Its a long time exercise but effective also . You can see the effect not now but at the end and believe me its that happiness you never felt before.
Let me clarify one thing. It is not at all necessary to reproduce the section numbers in exam.If you still wish to quote them then you must be completely sure about the section number.Quoting wrong section numbers , wrong AS numbers , SA numbers puts a poor impression on the examiner. Section numbers can only be learnt by reproducing them. By reproducing I do not mean that you start memorizing them. You can have discussions with your friends and try recollecting the section numbers whenever a section is used. Also while reading , you must try and remember the section number every time a reference is given of that section in another sections. This way you wont be spending extra time for remembering the numbers
Section are not that important for passing the exam but yes they do provide competitive edge over others answers. First let me tell you, this is not one day exercise, the more you repeat more you will remember. You have to start from very beginning of your exam schedule and have to keep on repeat the same over little frequency. Like write it in your note book, keep on reading the same once in a one day then in two day then in week. Secondly observe the pattern of the sections. Make some shortcut so that you can grasp them easily. All sections are divided in chapters, so divide those section likewise. Then do more sorting subject wise. Subject like section related to auditor and audit, subject related to directors, subject related to meetings etc. If you learn that way, i am sure you will never forget the same.
