Extendable Note A bond in which the date of maturity may be extended. Whether the issuer, bondholder, or both have the authority to extend the maturity depends upon the specific terms of the bond agreement. If a maturity is extended, the issuer continues to pay coupons. Thus, extendable notes usually sell at a higher price than other bonds because there is the possibility for a higher return.

**EXTENDABLE NOTES** Extendible notes (or extendable bond) is a complex bond with the embedded option for a holder to extend its maturity date by a number of years. Such a bond may be considered as a portfolio of a straight, shorter-term bond and a call option to buy a longer-term bond. This relatively rare type of bond works to the advantage of investors during periods of declining interest rates. Pricing of the extendible bond will be similar to that of a puttable bond. Sometimes, the bond may be structured so as to give an option to extend to the issuer. In this case, pricing will be similar to that of a callable bond. Thanks

Dear Friend Uma, **Meaning** A bond in which the date of maturity may be extended. They are also called extendable bonds. Depending upon the terms of the bond indenture, the bond issuer, the bond holder, or both may have one or more options to delay the repayment of the bond's principal while the bond interest is continued to be paid. In addition, either party may have the right to exchange it for a bond of longer maturity at the same or higher interest rate. Extendable bonds usually sell at a higher price than the non-extendable bonds. Written also as extendable bond. opposite of retractable bond. also called extendable note, extendable note.

Hiiii **Extendable Notes** A long-term debt security that includes an option to lengthen its maturity period. Depending on the specific terms of the extendable bond, the bond holder and/or bond issuer may have one or more opportunities to defer the repayment of the bond's principal, during which time interest payments continue to be paid. Additionally, the bond holder or issuer may have the option to exchange the bond for one with a longer maturity, at an equal or higher rate of interest. Because these bonds contain an option to extend the maturity period, a feature that adds value to the bond, extendable bonds sell at a higher price than non-extendable bonds. Regards,
