HI...What are the different types of taxes imposed by Indian Government on people?
Since your question has " Indian Government " , by which it means Central Government & State Government . Therefore I classify taxes imposed on people on the basis of government by which it it levied . State government levies taxes such as Vat , Luxury tax , Entertainment Tax , Entry TAX , CST , toll tax , Professional Tax . The rate of taxes differ from state to state. Whereas under Central Government jurisdiction comes direct tax , service tax , Central Excise and Customs . Under Direct tax comes Capital Gain Tax , Tax deduction at source ( TDS) , Dividend Distribution Tax , Minimum Alternate Tax ( MAT) . Wealth tax has been abolished from financial year 2015-16. The management and administration of the tax is under Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) . Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) Manages Service tax , Central Excise and Customs. Goods and service tax ( GST ) is likely to become applicable from 01.04.2016 which will take over following taxes : Vat , Luxury tax , Entertainment Tax , Entry TAX , CST , toll tax , Professional Tax , service tax , Central Excise and Customs . There will be only Goods and service tax ( GST ) in place of these taxes.
