1) a human being. 2) a corporation treated as having the rights and obligations of a person. Counties and cities can be treated as a person in the same manner as a corporation. However, corporations, counties and cities cannot have the emotions of humans such as malice, and therefore are not liable for punitive damages

Haii Person – Meaning – Income Tax: Meaning of Person under Income Tax The term “Person” under Section 2(31) of the Income Tax includes: (i) an individual, (ii) a Hindu undivided family, (iii) a company, (iv) a firm, (v) an association of persons or a body of individuals, whether incorporated or not, (vi) a local authority, and (vii) every artificial juridical person, not falling within any of the preceding sub-clauses. Explanation: For the purposes of this clause, an association of persons or a body of individuals or a local authority or an artificial juridical person shall be deemed to be a person, whether or not such person or body or authority or juridical person was formed or established or incorporated with the object of deriving income, profits or gains. Dear friend **Person** ‘Person’ is not restricted to natural person. The following shall be considered as persons for the purposes of the Act: -- • an individual -- • a Hindu undivided family -- • a company -- • a society -- • a limited liability partnership -- • a firm -- • an association or body of individuals, whether incorporated or not -- • Government -- • a local authority, or -- • every artificial juridical person, not falling within any of the preceding sub-clauses. thanks

Hiiiii friend,,,,,, Definition of Person -------------------- Definition of Person under Income tax act, 1961 includes (Section 2(31)) - an individual - a HUF(Hindu Undivided Family) - a Company - a Firm - an association of persons or a Body of individuals, whether incorporated or not - a Local authority - every artificial jurisdictional person, not falling within any of the preceding sub clauses Examples are. a company, a partnership firm, LLP etc. .. And in general a person is a human being who have unique qualities to describe himself different from others in the society. Regards,
