Panjab University Bcom Online Courses : In Panjab University, the B.Com admission process are to continue with the Online procedure for the upcoming academic year 2013-14 also. This decision is held in order to ease the admission process for much opted course. The authorities of Panjab University have come across this decision to continue with the centralized online admission process for city-based colleges this year, while all its affiliated institutes located in two cities names Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana have been asked to conduct the process themselves.

The administrators of these colleges have stated that a lack of internet facilities, in certain areas of Punjab, made it difficult for students to file the forms Online. Moreover, it was brought into notice of the higher authorities that some of the students failed to manage seats in their preferred colleges while in other institutions, a large number of seats are vacant. Based on the centralized admission process for B.Com which was started in the year 2010 was announced with authorities bringing all the 11 city based colleges and those included the Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana under this rule.

As per this procedure students had to fill the admission forms Online, but had to be physically present in the time of counselling. In the year 2011, the Punjab University even made the counselling Online but, had to restore it to the initial process. The officials say that the centralized admission process for B.Com admissions was started to bring transparency, accountability and minimize expenditure of Prospectuses as well.

Syndic and Senator, Dr Jagwant said “The centralised admission process turned out to be a very lengthy process and most students, after having gained admission, kept changing colleges as per the availability of seats, which hampered teaching. Secondly, most students prefer admissions in Chandigarh colleges leading to vacancies in the Punjab-based institutions.”
