Non verbal reasoning Grouping of Identical Figures:
Grouping of Identical Figures
Arrangements of nine figures, which are numbered, are given. Examine these figures and characterise them along with gatherings comprising of figures having more or less the same properties. The best answer is to be chosen from a given arrangement of genuinely close options.
Example : Select the given figures into three sections using each figure only once.
Options :
(a) 1,4, 7; 3, 6, 9; 2, 5, 8
(b) 1,6, 9; 2, 4, 7; 3, 5, 8
(c) 1,4, 7; 2, 6, 9; 3, 5, 8
(d) 1,5, 7; 2, 6, 9; 3, 4, 8
Solution
3, 5, 8 have similar designs with four leaves placed close to a small circle and forming a symmetrical design at the centre of the figure.
2, 6, 9 have a similar designs with three of the corners of the main figure are shaded black and
there is a pattern formed around a ‘ + ‘ sign at the centre of the figure.
1,4, 7 have similar designs with four small circles at the corners of the main figure and there is a wheel shaped element at the centre of the figure.
Hence, figure (c) is the answer.
- Select the given figures into three sections using each figure only once.
Options
(a) 1,3, 9; 2, 5, 8; 4, 6, 7
(b) 1,5, 8; 4, 6, 7; 2, 3, 9
(c) 2, 5, 9; 1, 3, 8; 2, 6, 7
(d) 1,8, 9, 4, 6, 7; 2, 3, 5
Solution
1.5.8 are all open figures bisected by a line segment.
4,6,7 are all closed figures touching a line segment.
2.3.9 are all closed figures intersected by a line.
Hence, figure (b) is the answer.
