Karnataka class 12 commerce business studies question paper: Pre-University College (PUC) is the most popular option after Class 10. PUC is a 2-year course with 1 Major Board Exam at the end of the second year PUC/12th.  The student must study 4 core subjects in each branch along with 1st language—English & 2nd language.The other options are;

  •  Arts/Humanities—History, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Education, Logic, Home Science, Optional Kannada, Karnataka Music & Hindustani Music, etc.
  •  Commerce—History, Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Computer Science, Geography, Statistics & Basic Maths.
  •  Science—Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Electronics, Computer Science, Home Science & Geology.

There are 23 subjects, 11 languages and 50 combinations in the Pre-University curriculum.

Flexible Combinations

  • If you don’t like to study Biology, you can pursue PCME (Electronics) or PCMCs ( Computer Science) or PCMG (Geology). This makes you eligible for a career in Engineering Stream.
  • If you don’t like to study Mathematics, you can pursue PCBH ( Home Science ) or PCBS ( Statistics).This is apt for students focused on medicine and who find it difficult to cope up with mathematics.

Admission to this course is based on marks obtained for the SSLC, , examination. The Indian education system follows a 10+2+3 (4 or 5) pattern so that a Bachelor’s degree requires a minimum of 10 years of school, plus two years of PUC.Colleges offering a pre-university course are known as PU Colleges or Junior College in India.

  • Commerce student must be interested in working with numbers, data, information, theory, and analysis. Most of the subjects taught in Commerce are totally new to school students
  • learning and application of concepts in Accounts, Business Studies demands problem-solving skills.
  •  The student plans to take up competitive exams like CLAT ( Common Law Aptitude Test ) to join Law or CPT (Common Proficiency Test ) to become a Chartered Accountant.
