ICAI Scholarship for CA Students 2020-21
ICAI scholarship for CA students: ICAI invites application forms from students who have enrolled for CA Course in ICAI belonging to Merit, Merit-cum-need based and Need-based and weaker section communities. Provided by the Department of Minority Welfare, this scholarship aims to support and encourage students from weaker sections in pursuing CA as a course. The Scholarship amount shall be provided by the Board of Trustees of the Chartered Accountant Students Benevolent Fund (CASBF).
ICAI has announced its Scholarship scheme for the CA Students for the Year 2020-21. All the details regarding the issuance of the scholarship scheme have been provided below:

Board of Studies, ICAI also awards Merit Scholarships to the Meritorious Students as a token of appreciation. Students whose names are appearing at Sl. No. 1-10 of Merit lists of Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate of November 2019 Exam, in case of the Rank at Sl. No.10 continues to Sl. No. 11 or 12 or so on, then all such rank holders shall be granted @ Rs. 2000/- p.m. Such students are not required to apply. Terms for awarding Scholarship: · Applicants shall be the registered students of Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate or Final Course. · In the case of Intermediate (IPC)/Intermediate Students, Scholarship shall be paid for a maximum period of 18 months. · In the case of Final students, Scholarship shall be paid for a maximum period of 30 months or balance period of their articleship, whichever is less. · An additional amount of Rs. 100/- p.m. shall be paid to SC/ ST/ OBC students, under Need-based and Weaker Section Category on submission of certificate/ documentary proof duly attested by a gazetted officer or a member of the Institute. · One scholarship under the Need-Based and Weaker Section Category is reserved for a Physically Challenged student. · Income Certificate (Form No. 4) is to be submitted on the letterhead of the Principal under whom the Student is undergoing Articleship (Practical Training) (Part I) / letterhead of any member of ICAI in case the Student is not undergoing Articleship (Part-II). The applications without Form No. 4 will not be processed. The Board of Studies awards various Scholarships to students, namely, Merit, Merit -cum- Need-based and Need-based and Weaker Sections twice a year i.e. in the month of April and October. The announcements are released in March & September issues of the Student’s Journal-“The Chartered Accountant Student” calling applications for awarding the
scholarships and also hosted on the website of the Institute. The students are required to apply in the prescribed Scholarship Application Form. The details of scholarships and the criteria applied for selection of applicants are as under:

- Merit Scholarship: The students whose names appear at No.1 to 10 (in case the rank at Sl. No. 10 continues to Sl. No. 11 or to Sl. No. 12 or so on, all such rank holders) of the Merit lists of Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate Examination held in May/November every year are awarded Merit Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month. Rank holders of Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate registered for Final Course will get Scholarship for a maximum period of 30 months/remaining period of their articleship whichever, is less. Hence they are not required to apply.
- Merit-cum-Need based Scholarship: All students (other than covered under Merit Scholarship) whose names appear in the Merit list of Rank holders of the Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate Examination and their parent’s total income is not more than 2,50,000/- * per annum are eligible to apply for the award of Merit-cum-Need scholarship. The students who would be selected for award of scholarship under this category will be granted @ Rs. 1500/- p.m for a maximum period of 30 months/remaining period of articleship whichever is less on being registered for Final Course.
- Need-based and weaker sections Scholarship: Students of Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate and Final Course are eligible to apply for the award of Need-based Scholarships provided their parents’ annual income is not more than 2,00,000/-* per annum. The students who would be selected for award of the scholarship will be granted @ Rs. 1250/- p.m for 18 months to Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate students and for a maximum period of 30 months/remaining period of articleship whichever is less to Final students. A total of 1000 scholarships (600 for Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate) and 400 for Final Course Students) are awarded every year under this category. Two scholarships are reserved every year for physically handicapped students. For SC/ST/OBC category students, an additional amount of Rs.100/- p.m. will be paid on submission of a certificate/ documentary proof duly attested by a member of the Institute.
* Income Certificate is to be submitted in Form No. 4 for being eligible on the letterhead of the Principal by the Student undergoing Articleship (Practical Training) (Part I) / letterhead of any member of ICAI by the Student not undergoing Articleship (Part-II).
While selecting candidates the performance of their CPT/Foundation/ Graduation / Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate, as the case may be, as well as parents’ income are taken into consideration. Physically handicapped students or those who do not have any earning member in their family are given preference.
Over and above the number of scholarships under this category, the children undergoing Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate or Final Course of the deceased members of ICAI where financial assistance is provided to spouses of the deceased members from the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund (CABF) shall also be eligible for the scholarship.
The payment of scholarship is liable to be discontinued in each category in case the recipient does not pass the Intermediate (IPC)/ Intermediate/Final Examination in the first two eligible chances.
- Scholarships under Endowment Schemes: In addition to the above, scholarships are also awarded under different Endowment Schemes created by individual donors/ Joint Corpus formed by donors. The criteria applied are the same as in the case of Need-based.

- Submission of Scholarship Application Form: The duly completed Scholarship Application Form should reach to The Director, Board of Studies, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAl BHAWAN, A-29, Sector – 62, NOIDA- 201 309, before the last date i.e 31st March for April term and 30th for October term as per the announcement hosted at the ICAI Website and published in the Student’s Journal “The Chartered Accountant Student” in March and September respectively.
Appendix to the Charted Accountants Students’ Scholarships
ICAI Scholarship Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the CA students to get the scholarship from ICAI are as follows :
- The student should have a valid registration in the CA course.
- The Student should be currently undergoing articled/industrial training as per C.A. Regulations, 1988.
- The annual income of parents from all sources must be less than Rs. 3.0. Lakh
The student should fulfill all the above criteria to avail of the scholarship from the ICAI.

Scheme of Financial Assistance/Scholarship to Students of CA Course, the Year 2019-20
The Board of Trustees of the Chartered Accountant Students Benevolent Fund (CASBF) has decided to provide financial assistance/scholarship for the amount of Rs. 1500/- PM, to students who are registered in CA Intermediate /IPCC course and serving articled training as well as the amount of Rs. 2000/- PM for those students registered in CA Final Course and serving of articled/industrial training on the date of application. Financial Assistance will be given in lump sum for the period of one-year i.e 01st April 2019 to 31st March 2020.
Needy, financially week but meritorious students pursuing the Chartered Accountancy course may apply in the prescribed application form.
The eligibility criteria for obtaining financial assistance from CA SBF are as under:
- Valid registration in CA course
- Currently undergoing articled/industrial training as per C.A.Regulations, 1988
- The annual income of parents from all sources must be less than Rs. 3.0. Lakh
Students as above who are fulfilling the eligibility criteria may apply in the prescribed Application form, duly filled in and recommended by any of Central Council Member/Chairman/Vice-Chairman/Secretary of the Regional Council/Ex-President/Chairman/Vice-Chairman and Member-Secretary/Board of Trustees of CASBF and send to the Member Secretary, Chartered Accountants Students Benevolent Fund so as to reach at the following address latest by 15th December 2019.
