Application Process

All candidates interested in securing admission in programmes offered at Delhi University (DU) and its affiliated colleges need to fill a centralised admission form. The entire application process for DU admissions is completely online. Thus, aspirants need to fill the DU application form on the official website of the varsity.

In order to apply for admission in any course offered at DU and its affiliated colleges, candidates need to first of all create a login ID/register on the official website. Thereafter, candidates need to fill all their details in DU application form and pay the application form.

Aspirants can pay DU application fee by credit card/debit card/net banking.

Undergraduate Courses (Entrance Based):

Candidates can register for the UG courses from the second week of May till last week of May 2017. The DU Hall Ticket will be available from the first week of June 2017. DU Entrance Exam for UG courses will be held from the third week of June to the last week of June 2017. Candidates can check the DU Result in the last week of July 2017 through online mode.

Entrance Examination

a) The Admit Card for the entrance examination shall be available in your online registration account.

b) Admit Card’s download link shall be available after 31st May 2017 (closing date of online registration). Please visit the UG admission portal for news and updates related with the Admit Card and on the admission procedures.

c) Candidate shall take the print-out of the Admit Card. The print quality of the Admit Card should be good enough for verification.

d) Admit Card shall carry the information related with Centre, Reporting time etc.

e) Candidate shall carry the following documents to the Examination Centre:
i. Printed copy of the Admit Card.
ii. One identity card bearing candidate’s photograph, for verification.
This can be any one of the following documents:

  • Aadhar Card,
  • Driving License
  • PAN card
  • Voter’s identity card
  • Passport
  • College identity card

f) The duration of entrance examination shall be two hours. The question paper shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.

g) The answers have to be marked on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet.

h) A sample OMR sheet and associated instructions is also given in the portal.

Candidates have to pass their 10+2 level from a recognized board. The minimum aggregate marks as given below (category wise):

  • General Category: 60 % in four subjects (including mathematics)
  • OBC category: 54% in four subjects (including Mathematics)
  • PH category: 55% in four subjects (including Mathematics)
  • SC/ST category: Passing marks with Mathematics as one subject

Important Instructions :

Read the instructions given below carefully before filling the Online admission form for B.Com / B.Com (Hons.) courses in Delhi University.

  1. Candidates belonging to different categories including General/OBC/SC/ST/PwD are admitted to fill the online DU pre-admission form.
  2. Using a single Delhi University B.Com /B.Com (Hons.) Admission form, a candidate can apply for as many courses or programmes offered in the faculty of commerce by the University.
  3. The Online Application Form is common for each and every B.Com course listed in the form and is valid for all colleges except Stephen’s College and Jesus & Mary College.
  4. All candidates are requested to fill the Delhi University Online Application Form only after ensuring that the requisite courses/ programmes are available in the colleges offering Commerce programmes.
  5. It is important to note that any application forms that are incomplete or having insufficient information will be summarily rejected.

As already mentioned, DU B.Com / B.Com(Hons.) Admission Form 2017 is available offline too.
The Offline DU application form is expected to be available in as many as 18 centers during the first week of June 2017.

Delhi University Admissions 2017 Procedure

The applicants will be called for counseling process on the basis of marks obtained by them. The applicants will be confirmed final admission after the verification of requisite documents & other formalities.

List of Documents Required at the Time of Admission

  • 10th class mark-sheet
  • 10th class passing certificate
  • 12th class original certificate/provisional certificate
  • 12th class mark-sheet
  • Category Certificate in case of SC/ST/PwD
  • Character Certificate (recent)
  • Those who have passed 12th board from outside Delhi have to produce Transfer certificate and Migration Certificate
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate
  • Two passport size self-attested photographs

Scheme of Examination:

Examinations shall be conducted at the end of each Semester as per the Academic Calendar notified by the University of Delhi.Each course will carry two components:

  • lnternal Assessment and
  • End-Semester Examination.

Pass Percentage and Promotion Criteria :

The minimum marks required to pass any paper in a semester shall be

  • 40% in theory and
  • 40% in Practical, wherever applicable.

The student must score

  • 40% in the End Semester Examination and
  • 40% in the total of End semester Examination & Internal assessment of the paper for both theory and practical separately.

Reappearance in Passed papers:

  • A student may reappear in any theory paper prescribed for a semester, on foregoing in writing her/his previous performance in the paper’s concerned. This can be done in the immediate subsequent semester examination only (for example, a student reappearing in a paper prescribed for Semester I examination, may do so along with subsequent Semester III examination and not along with paper’s for Semester V).
  • A candidate who has cleared the papers of Part III (V &VI Semesters) may reappear in any paper of V or VI Semester only once, at the immediate subsequent examination on foregoing in writing her/his previous performance in the paper/s
    concerned, within the prescribed span period. (Note: The candidate of this catcgory will not be allowed to join any postgraduation courses)
  • In the case of reappearance in a paper, the result will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s current performance in the examination.
  • In the case of a candidate, who opts to re-appear in any paper/s under the aforesaid provisions, on surrendering her/his earlier performance but fails to re-appear in the paper/s concerned, the marks previously secured by the candidate in the paper/s in which she/he has failed to re-appear shall be take into account while determining her/his result of the examination held currently.
  • Reappearance in Practical examinations shall not be allowcd.
  • A student who reappears in a paper shall carry forward the internal assessment marks, originally awarded.

Division Criteria : 

A student who passes all the papers prescribed for Semester I to Semester VI examinations would be eligible for the degree. Such a student shall be categorized on the basis of the combined result of Semester I to Semcster VI exanrinations as follows:-

60% or more           First Division
50% or more but less than 60%Second Division
40% or more but less than 50%Third Division

Supplementary Examinations :

There shall be no Supplementary Examinations for any Undergraduate Courses.

Span Period:  

The span period to complete the course shall be six years from the admission in the Ist Semester.
