Delhi university Bcom Entrance Exam Syllabus : The DU syllabus for the entrance test for UG courses is based on the academic syllabus of class 11th and 12th.  Candidates appearing for the UG Courses (entrance based) may check the official syllabus when the notification will be released by the university. Candidates must note that we will update the syllabus as soon as it will be released by the officials.

You need to meet the eligibility criteria of DU Admissions 2017, for applying for the UG courses in the University.

  1. The Delhi University has directed affiliated colleges to follow a uniform eligibility criteria for 2017 UG admissions
  2. As per the uniform eligibility criteria for Delhi University 2017 Admissions, candidates seeking admissions in language courses in the varsity colleges will be having an advantage of 2.5% in the best of four subjects’ aggregate, if they have studied the particular language as an elective subject
  3. But there will be a disadvantage of 2.5% in the best of four subjects’ aggregate, if they have studied the particular language as a functional subject
  4. All elective subjects of the CBSE curriculum which are regarded as Honours programmes by the central university will be considered as academic subjects for ‘Best of four’ calculation, without any disadvantage
  5. However, Physical Education, Home Science and Music in Class 12th will be considered in ‘Best of Four’ calculation as the academic subjects or elective subjects for only those candidates who are seeking admissions in these three courses in the Delhi University 2017 Colleges
  6. Candidates qualifying 10+2 (12th Board Examination) with two or three vocational courses may be considered eligible for the Delhi University 2017 Admission Process, subjected to a deduction of 10% of the maximum marks in each subject
  7. For admissions in BA Programme and B.Com programme, if there is a case of change in stream, say a student from commerce background is interested in admissions to Arts programme or vice-a-versa, there shall be a disadvantage of 5% in the best of four subjects calculation
  8. The colleges will need to seek a prior approval of the University for providing relaxation in cutoff marks to girl candidates which can be a maximum of 3%
  9. Candidates need to have studied Hindi and English subjects mandatorily for seeking admissions in English (Hons.) and Hindi (Hons.) programmes, respectively. Apart from these two subjects, the candidates will be granted admissions in any of the language programmes, with a disadvantage of 5% in the best of four cutoff marks, if the language is studied till Class 10th.
  10. Commerce, Accountancy, Business Studies and Biology will be treated as academic subjects
  11. Business Mathematics will be treated as equivalent to Mathematics for admissions to B.Com (H) / B.Com programmes only
  12. A maximum of two vocational subjects can be included for ‘Calculation of Best of Four’, for admissions to Vocational programmes
  13. In case, if more than one non-listed elective/academic subject as notified by DU is included for ‘Calculation of Best of Four’, a dis-advantage of 2.5% each subject of the ‘Best of Four’ calculation will be levied for admissions to BA/B.Com programmes, besides a dis-advantage as the case will be considered as change in stream
  14. Legal Studies subject will be treated at par with academic/elective subjects for purpose of admissions to BA (H) Political Science programme only
  15. Mass Media Studies subject will be treated at par with academic/elective subjects for purpose of admissions to BA (H) Journalism (English/Hindi) programmes

Age Bar – It is hereby mentioned by the Delhi University officials that the University hasn’t set any age bar for any of the offered UG programmes.

Delhi University 2017 Eligibility Criteria for B.Com programmes Candidates who wish to pursue DU 2016 Admissions in B.Com programmes need to go through the below mentioned eligibility criteria–

B.Com(Hons.) – The candidates need to have qualified 12th Board Exams securing an aggregate of 45% and above marks in qualifying exam.

B.Com – The candidates need to have qualified 12th Board Exams securing an aggregate of 40% and above marks in the exam. The selection will be based on one language and three best elective subjects.

Important Information

  1. No additional eligibility criteria will be announced at the college level without prior information and approval from the University of Delhi.
  2. However, St. Stephens’ and Jesus & Mary Colleges may announce their own eligibility conditions for 2017 UG Admissions.

Delhi University offers as many as 54000 seats in around 16 faculties and 86 departments spread over North and South Campuses.

Centres for the Entrance Examination

a) Entrance examination shall be conducted at the Centres located in the following cities:

  • Bengaluru
  • Delhi
  • Jammu
  • Kolkata
  • Nagpur
  • Varanasi

Candidate shall choose any one of these cities for appearing in the entrance examination through the online registration. It may be noted that after completion of the online registration, the chosen city will not be changed.

The University reserves the right to change/cancel any Centre of examination without assigning any reason.

Registration fee

a) Registration fee (non-refundable) for the entrance examination is the following:

SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD)Rs. 250/-
For all other categories (Unreserved, OBC etc.)Rs. 500/-

b) Registration fee has to be paid during online registration process through one of the available online payment options.
c) Candidate shall be required to pay separate registration fee for each Course/Programme, for which the candidate is applying.
d) It may be noted again that your application submission process shall be completed only after payment of the online registration fee.

Entrance Examination

a) The Admit Card for the entrance examination shall be available in your online registration account.

b) Admit Card’s download link shall be available after 31st May 2016 (closing dateof online registration). Please visit the UG admission portal for news and updates related with the Admit Card and on the admission procedures.

c) Candidate shall take the print-out of the Admit Card. The print quality of the Admit Card should be good enough for verification.

d) Admit Card shall carry the information related with Centre, Reporting time etc.

e) Candidate shall carry the following documents to the Examination Centre:

i. Printed copy of the Admit Card.

ii. One identity card bearing candidate’s photograph, for verification.This can be any one of the following documents: Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN card, Voter’s identity card, Passport or College identity card

f) The duration of entrance examination shall be two hours. The question paper shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.

g) The answers have to be marked on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet.

Admission through Entrance Exam

Merit is not the only means through which students can secure admission in courses offered at DU. This is because many colleges in DU conduct entrance exams in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in certain UG as well as PG courses.

For courses in which entrance tests are conducted, aspirants need to first meet the minimum eligibility criteria and thereafter appear for a written entrance exam.

Some of the courses in which aspirants can secure admission basis an entrance exam are as mentioned below:

  • Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)
  • BA (Hons) Business Economics
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis) [BBA(FIA)]
  • BTech (Information Technology & Mathematical Innovation)

Intimation regarding Admission

a) The list of shortlisted candidates and dates of the interview/group-discussion shall be notified on the UG admission portal.

b) Results of the Entrance Examination and Interviews/Group Discussion, if any, shall be notified on the UG admission portal.

c) Selected candidates are required to furnish the necessary documents at the time of admission.

d) Information regarding subsequent lists of selected candidates, if any, shall be notified on the UG admission portal.

Important Points

  • Online registration is mandatory for ALL the candidates.
  • For PG courses the application form will be available from 1st week of April 2017. For UG courses the application forms will be available from 1 week of May 2017.
  • A candidate may choose any one of the six cities for appearing in the entrance examination through the online registration. After completion of the online registration, the chosen Centre will not be changed.
  • You can download your admit card by accessing your registration account.
  • After completing your application for one course, you can apply in another course using “Apply in New Course” button on your home area. You need to pay registration fee separately for each of the applied courses.
  • Final Aggregate is the combined total of all the B.A/B.Com/B.Sc. (or equivalent) semesters (or annual) result together.
