CS Foundation Exam Eligibility Criteria
CS Foundation Registration: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) conducts the Company Secretary Exam. There are three stages to this exam – Foundation programme, Executive programme and Professional Programme. The CS Exam is conducted twice in an year – June and December.

CS Registration | CS Foundation Registration: Candidates who have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) examination of a Board/University constituted by law in India or any examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto are eligible.
- Foundation Programme which is of eight months duration can be pursued by 10+2 pass or equivalent students of Arts, Science or Commerce stream (Excluding Fine Arts).
- Exemption From Foundation Examination:-
All graduates and post graduates (excluding fine arts) and those having passed in the Foundation examination of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India or the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or of any other accountancy institution in India or abroad recognised as equivalent thereto by the Council of the Institute are exempted from passing the Foundation Programme examination. Such students may directly seek registration to Executive Programme stage of Company Secretary (CS) Course.
Duration of Foundation Programme is 8 months, excluding the months of admission and the examination. Foundation Programme students are required to pass the Foundation examination within 3 years from the date of their admission.
CS Foundation Registration: The candidate would be required to login to his account through the login option given on the right top. After logging in, a direct link will appear for exam registration. The Fees payable at the time of submission of the CS Foundation Exam Form is Rs. 1200 (Total) for all the 4 subjects.
Eligibility for appearing for CS Foundation Exam
CS Foundation Registration: For a candidate to be eligible for appearing for this exam, he should have cleared 10+2 Exams. Provisional Registration is also allowed for students who have appeared for their 10+2 Exams and are awaiting their Results.
Moreover, a candidate should also have completed 8 months from the Date of Admission for the CS Course(excluding the month of admission and the month in which the exam is being conducted). Therefore the following are the cut-off dates:-
EXEMPTION FROM APPEARING FOR CS FOUNDATION EXAMS
CS Foundation Registration: The following categories of students are exempted from appearing for CS Foundation Exams and can directly appear for CS Executive Exams:-
- Students who have cleared CA-CPT or have cleared CMA- Foundation Exams
- Students who have a masters degree in any discipline other than Fine Arts.
OTHER RELEVANT POINTS REGARDING CS FOUNDATION EXAM
- Provisionally registered students of CS Foundation are required to regularise their admission by submitting the proof of passing 10+2 Exams within 6 months of the date of registration
- There will be 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s) of 2 marks each in each paper and the candidate shall be given 90 minutes for appearing in both the papers in each day. (45 minutes in case of exemption in 1 of the papers)
- The Question Paper will be displayed on the screen in both Hindi as well as English language except for Business Management, Ethics and Communication paper for which questions will be displayed in English language only.
- Candidates are allowed to use their own battery operated noiseless and ordinary cordless calculators with not more than 6 functions, 12 digits and 2 memories. Use of programmable, scientific or printing model of calculator or calculator not confirming to the above specifications is not allowed.
- Every candidate is required to appear for all the subjects for which he/she has enrolled. However, in case the candidate has an exemption – he is not required to appear for that specific paper.
- Candidates are required to secure a minimum of 40% marks in each paper separately and an overall aggregate of 50% marks for all the papers.

- Go to the Students tab and click on Student Registration

- Click on to the checklist of documents as applicable to you on the basis of your
qualification,
- Photograph of the candidate

4. Now Click on ‘Proceed to Registration’
5. Select the Course type as Foundation stage
6. Fill other fields.
7. Click on the option- ‘Make Payment’ for effecting necessary payments.
Payment is to be made either by credit/debit card /net banking or through bank chalan system
You will subsequently get username and password at your E mail ID (The user name and password will be provided within 24 hours of payment.)
After you get your username and password, please upload documents at the link sent at your mail and upload documents.
Process of accessing your account after registering to ICSI for uploading documents
While uploading the document please ensure the following
- File format is jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp
File sizes of documents does not exceed 5 MB
Size of Student Photo is between 20KB – 50KB
Size of Student Signature is between 10KB – 20KB
Please follow the below step to access your registered account:
1. Click on online services button on top of the ICSI website (http://www.icsi.edu/)
2. Thereafter Click on login button
3. Enter your Username and Password
4. After Login, Go to Students and then click “My Account”
5. Click on “Manage Account”
6. Upload documents at certificate details tab given under manage account option
7. Once all required documents have been uploaded, the applications are checked at Directorate of Student Services and if found OK, it is approved. If any discrepancies are found, then student concerned is informed by e-mail to complete the requirement.
CS Registration | CS Foundation registration for June 2019 exam procedure for downloading letter / e-Identity card through online Services
CS Foundation Registration: Students can download their e-Identity card and registration letter from Institute’s website www.icsi.edu after approval of their application by the Institute by following the given below simple procedure:
- Click on online services log at www.icsi.edu
- Log in to your account .Enter your “Username” & “Password”
- Click on “student” option
- Open “my account”
- Go to “others” option at student’s account
- Students can download registration letter / e-Identity card at others option at their account
After downloading the Identity card, students are compulsorily required to get it attested by any of the following authorities with his/her seal carrying name, professional membership No., designation and complete official address:
1. Member of the Institute, with ACS/FCS No.
2. Gazetted Officer of the Central or State Government.
3. Manager of a Nationalised Bank.
4. Principal of a recognized School/College.
5. Officers of ICSI
CS Foundation Registration: Check the information below about how to get the admit card of the CS Foundation exam. Generally ICSI issues CS Admit Card / Hall Ticket just before 15 days of the exams.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Students: Please use your current 17 digit Registration Number.
- Examinations Timings Displayed on Hall Ticket are in 24 hours Format
- Medium of Examination has no relevance. Question papers will be displayed both in English and Hindi language except for Business
Management, Ethics and Communication paper for which questions will be displayed in English only.
Note :
In case, due to any reason, the downloaded ICSI Admit Card does not bear the photograph/ signature of the examinee, candidates should affix his/her recent passport size photograph and put their signature before getting it attested from a Member of ICSI, Gazetted Officer of State/ Central Government, Principal of Recognised School or Manager of a Nationalised Bank. Please handover one identical photograph to the Superintendent of Examination Centre for affixing the same in the Attendance Sheet. Along with the Admit Card, candidates should bring Student Identity Card! Driving License/ PAN Card/ Voter Identity Card/ UID Aadhaar Card/ Passport, etc. as identification proof.
Candidates should carry with them (i) CS Admit Card; and (ii) Original Student Identity Card to the Examination Centre in every session regularly for establishing their identity and securing admission to the examination, failing which they will not be allowed to enter the Examination Hall.
Candidates are advised to ensure that they are in possession of a valid Identity Card (Green Coloured Authenticated Identity Card sent by post by the Institute OR the downloaded Student Identity Card from www.icsi.edu duly attested by the authorised officials). In case, due to any reason, the photograph and signature of the student are not available in the downloaded Identity Card, the candidates should affix his/her photograph and signature on the downloaded Identity Card and get it attested by a Gazetted Officer/Member of ICSI/Principal of a Recognized School/Manager of a Nationalised Bank etc. with a supporting seal to for its authenticity.
