Countdown to CA-CPT Exam

Countdown to CA-CPT Exam

All the CA aspirants are well aware of the Common Proficiency Test. The CPT  is an entrance for students who aspire to get admitted to the CA course straight after their 12th grade exams. The CPT is conducted by the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and is held twice a year. Clearing the CPT enables the student to enroll into the intermediate course which saves years. This makes it critical for the students to clear it in one or two attempts.

The registration of CPT exam begins after class 10th but the student can appear only after class 12th. The registration is valid for 3 years after which it has to be re validated. The test consists of subjects namely Fundamentals of Accounting, Mercantile Law, Quantitative Aptitude and General Economics. To qualify, a student must obtain 30% marks in all four subjects.

The best way to prepare for CPT is self study, coaching and online tutorials. The coaching will prepare you for the pattern of exam, the kind of questions asked and time management. The faculty has had enough experience of CPT to guide you through. Online tutorials or courses on the other hand come in handy when you want to gain additional knowledge. Most online courses are step by step guides with videos and digital notes to help a student reinforce learning. The practice tests available online keep the student agile.

Though CPT is not a test that is impossible to pass, students face a lot of anxiety while preparing for it. It is difficult, yes, and needs a lot of mental toughness to break through. Breathe easy and follow these simple rules to success:

Be positive: Keep reinforcing the thought that you can achieve success. This will keep you moving and you will remain motivated. Do not make a monster out of an entrance exam.

Strategize: Make a strategy for preparation. Chalk out the timings for study, the reading and practice material you will use and research on smarter ways to solve questions.

Focus: No matter what, maintain your focus towards your goal. Remind yourself of the benefits you will get once you complete your CA.

Play: All study and no play will make Jack a dull boy. Keep a time out for fun in your time table. Take short breaks and then get back to study. This will help you focus better and remain alert.

Apart from these rules, make sure that you solve lots of CPT test papers. They will help you cover the CPT syllabus systematically and gain an edge in the CPT exam.
