CBSE Class 12 Commerce Economics Paper Analysis : Economics is “a social science concerned chiefly with description and analysis of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services”. Economics focuses on the behaviour and interactions of economic agents and how economies work. Microeconomics analyzes basic elements in the economy, including individual agents and markets, their interactions, and the outcomes of interactions. Individual agents may include, for example, households, firms, buyers, and sellers. Macroeconomics analyzes the entire economy (meaning aggregated production, consumption, savings, and investment) and issues affecting it, including unemployment of resources (labour, capital, and land), inflation, economic growth, and the public policies that address these issues (monetary, fiscal, and other policies). Other broad distinctions within economics include those between positive economics, describing “what is”, and normative economics, advocating “what ought to be”; between economic theory and applied economics; between rational and behavioural economics; and between mainstream economics and heterodox economics.

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Economics Paper Analysis : The CBSE held it’s Class 12 Economics Board examination on Monday, April 17, 2017. Team Meritnation hopes and wishes that your exam went well. Experts at Meritnation noticed that the paper was an average paper with some easy and straightforward questions. Most questions were direct. However, the numerical questions were a little tricky. Trend of HOTS Questions– This year the number of and marks assigned to HOTS questions has reduced in the paper.

Chapterwise Marks Distribution– The chapter-wise weightage of both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics has remained the same with that of last year’s paper.

Proportion of Numericals- An increase has been observed in the marks distribution of numerical questions. That is, this year numerical questions accounted for 34 marks as compared to 19 marks in 2016.

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Economics Paper Analysis : On April 17, The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted class 12 Economics exam across the nation.

Economics is one of the main subjects in commerce stream, which happen to be very scoring as well. According to majority of students, economic exam this was straight forward and easy. They were able to complete the exam on time.

A class 12 student from DPS Noida, Samayara said “The paper was really easy and nothing came out of syllabus. I am expecting to score above 90 marks in this exam.”

Exam carried few tricky questions

According to some students Question no 13 of the exam was toughest of all and that solving it required more time and mental ability than the rest of the questions in the paper.

Difficulty level: Medium

As the questions in paper were direct, most of the students are hoping to score high marks in this exam.Speaking on the difficulty level of the exam, a student named Anamika said “The difficulty level of the paper was medium and all the questions were easy to crack.”

Exam scheme

The exam was divided into two sections namely: Macro Economics and Micro Economics

Part A: Introductory micro economics

This section covered 50 marks out of the total allocated marks 100 and 16 questions were asked in this section of the exam.

Part B: Introductory macro economics

This section covered the remaining 50 marks out of the total 100 marks and 16 questions were asked in this section of the exam as well.

Many students said that the exam was easy with nothing out of the syllabus.

Last year, many students said that the economics paper was very easy, consisting of direct questions with nothing out of syllabus.

The CBSE Class 12 board exams 2017 started on March 9 and the first paper which was conducted was that of English (English Elective/English Elective-C/ English Core). This year, a total of 19, 85,397 students from classes 10 and 12 are appearing for the board examinations.

CBSE was established in 1962. CBSE affiliates all Kendriya Vidyalayas, all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools and most of the schools approved by central government of India. Every year, the board conducts the class 10 and class 12 exam in the month of March.

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Economics Paper Analysis : Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted the board exam for class 12 Economics paper today. The overall difficulty level of the question paper was moderate to easy. The paper had two sections and both the sections were of equal difficulty level. An average student would have found the question paper moderately easy. There were certain changes in the paper and certain topics were assigned more marks than was expected. A lot of questions were direct which was an advantage for students appearing for the exam.

Economic analysis can be applied throughout society, in business, finance, health care, and government. Economic analysis is sometimes also applied to such diverse subjects as crime, education, the family, law, politics, religion, social institutions, war, science, and the environment.

What was the difficulty level of the paper?
When it comes to difficulty level, though the paper was balanced but some sections had 2-3 questions which required mathematical skill.

How many marks an average student could score in the paper?
An average student could easily have scored 60+ marks in the paper.

Was there any question from the previous year question paper?
The paper had 5-6 questions from previous year papers. These questions were easy enough to be attempted by the students.

Any question which was out of syllabus?
There was no question which was out of syllabus, which was a huge relief for students.

How would you rate the difficulty level of each section?
There were 2 sections with equal difficulty level in this paper. In micro-economics  most of the questions were direct. But this time questions on price elasticity of demand and that on cost schedule were asked for 6 marks which was a surprise for the students. In macro-economics the numerical was comparatively easier this time as compared to last year.

About the paper pattern of this year’s economics exam, Ms. Nisha, PGT Economics, Army Public School, Delhi Cantt said that the pattern had slight change with some questions allotted higher marks. She also said that, there were no value based questions this time and students were told to prepare topics such as Demonetisation but no question regarding this was asked.

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Economics Paper Analysis : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today conducted the board examination for Economics for class 12. Students who appeared for the exam had mixed reactions about the paper. While many found it simple, others said there were a few questions that puzzled them.

“This year the questions that usually get covered under the six marks section were listed as four mark questions,” said Oneeka Deep, an Economics teacher at VidyaGyan. Students who found the paper confusing said that it did not follow the pattern that they had expected.

The CBSE paper was divided in two parts— section A was for Micro-Economics while section B was for Macro-Economics— following the yearly paper pattern. Many students found section A slightly more tricky than the second section.

“Section A had four six marker questions. Three of them were numericals, which took me a lot of time to complete,” says Khushi Tyagi from Sommerville school, Noida.

Gauri Sharma, another class 12 commerce student, said that the second section of the Economics paper followed a regular pattern so she was able to cover this part of the paper easily

“Most of the questions in the paper were very direct and I’m happy that I was able to finish the paper on time,” says Sharma. She adds that there were no questions related to the current Indian economy in either of the sections

The CBSE Economics paper this year had a few tricky questions but was largely direct. The simple questions balanced out the more difficult four markers and many students were pleased with their attempt.
