CBSE Class 12 Commerce Accountancy Paper Analysis For 2017 Exams

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Accountancy Paper Analysis :

Mar. 29, 2017: CBSE Class 12 Board Examination completed the Accountancy paper today. Accounts draws a lot of speculation and stress for students. And the verdict is out. The CBSE Class 12 Accounts paper was tough. Students and teachers share that the questions were unexpected. After an easy Business Studies Exam earlier this month, it was being expected that the paper would not be easy. However, by the looks of the students across the Delhi NCR, the Accounts paper was tougher than even expected. Many students complained that there were questions on topics which are usually never asked. Many even said the paper was surprising.

Students leaving the examination centers looked hassled and worried. India.com reached out to the expert teachers on the panel and was told that the paper was highly unexpected. “Every paper has a pattern. This year, CBSE has picked up very unlikely questions. Only the students who were thorough with the entire syllabus would be able to do well. But this was being expected by teachers across.”One senior accountancy teacher of a reputed private school in Delhi shared. Another teacher was of similar opinion and shared, “The increasing percentages in the subject were creating concerns and CBSE workshops have repeatedly tried to increase the competence of Accountancy or Accounts in CBSE Affiliated Schools.” Adding the teacher shared, “Many questions asked while within the curriculum are highly unlikely. Students would surely find the paper tough.”

Students agreed with their teachers. A student broke down while talking with her teacher and commented how she had to leave 10 marks worth questions as she was completely clueless about the questions. “There are many questions we had never come across. There were theory questions which have not been asked in the last few years. This year there was a 4 marks theory question from a chapter which usually has practical questions,” another student shared. The verdict thence remains that of a tough Accounts paper. Teachers further commented that the paper was lengthy. The long questions, however, were straight enough but the short questions were tough and from chapters which was completely unexpected.

CBSE Accountancy paper has been a talking point for the past few years. The rising percentage cut off’s for Commerce subjects in various top universities has been one of the biggest driving forces. Talking of Delhi University alone, the cut off percentage for B.Com (Hons.) for the past four years has been at 98 percent to close to 100 percent. The near perfect scores has been possible with students getting higher and higher marks in all Commerce subjects of Business Studies, Accountancy and Economics. CBSE school teachers have been hinting on increasing the level of accountancy papers due to the increased competition. Teachers believe that with near perfect percentages, this is extremely important as well to prune out the really exceptional students. For the average students, however, many teachers believe there were enough questions to provide them the opportunity to score well.

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Accountancy Paper Analysis For 2017 Exams

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Accountancy Paper Analysis : Students, who appeared for the CBSE Class XII accountancy paper, on Wednesday, were in for a rude shock with the questions coming from outside the prescribed syllabus. Besides, the paper was not in the usual format.

Teachers told Express they would write to the CBSE in this regard to draw the authorities’ attention to the matter.

“At least there was one question from outside the syllabus and they were not in the usual pattern. Students were not prepared for this paper,” said Devi Dayal, vice principal, Kochi Refineries School.

Priya Chandran, accountancy teacher at the Naval Children’s School, Naval Base here, said the question paper was lengthy and came from one topic. “We are given CBSE sample question paper. The accountancy paper did not follow the model question paper,” she said. “We want a liberal valuation for the accountancy paper,” Chandran said.

Echoing this, a teacher from another city school said all the questions were lengthy resulting in the students committing far too many mistakes. “The questions were suited more for the CA (chartered accountant) students,” she said.

According to her, the teachers would make a forceful plea to the CBSE to conduct the exam anew.
“The students, who were expecting 90-95 per cent marks, would be severely affected by the questions,” she said.

Dayal, who is also the president of the Kerala Commerce Forum, a commerce teachers’ collective, said the students’ morale was severely affected by the tough question paper.

KCF vice president Chandran said questions were also asked on accounting figures in crore. “The CBSE students are not allowed to use the calculator. For accountancy, you are not testing the students’ mathematical ability. You are testing their accounting abilities. We hope the CBSE would be liberal with the marks,” she said.

The students and the parents also took to the social media to vent their ire at the alleged perverse joy in putting the candidates to such mental trauma.

“What’s the use of having a sample paper when a completely opposite and tough paper is given in the CBSE accountancy examination?” asked Ishaan Garg.
