CA CPT STUDY MATERIAL AND PRACTICE MANUAL :-CA CPT Study Material and Practice Manual :  Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is a gateway to enter into the profession of Chartered Accountancy. CPT is open for candidates who have registered to CPT course with the Board of Studies of the Institute and have appeared or passed or going to appear in June 2018 exam in 12th class or equivalent examination. This is an objective type examination of 200 marks comprising of four sections. CA CPT Study Material and Practice Manual plays a crucial role in cracking the CA CPT Exam.

CPT Examination is objective type test comprising of 4 subjects which are: –
(a) Fundamentals of Accounting – 60 marks,
(b) Mercantile Laws – 40 marks,
(c) General Economics – 50 marks and
(d) Quantitative Aptitude – 50 mark

Every incorrect answer on the CPT exam carries a 0.25 negative mark. A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 30 per cent marks in each Section and a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate, in all the four Sections to pass the Common Proficiency Test.

CA New Syllabus 2018 | CPT Route

CA CPT Study Material and Practice Manual  : Revised Scheme: Route I – CPT Course

Under the CPT Course Route, the following steps are required

1. Register with Board of Studies (BoS) after appearing in Class XII till June 30/Dec 31.

2. Be eligible to appear for CPT examination after passing Class XII examination. The first CPT examination can be taken in November/May, as applicable, following the passing of Class XII examination.

3. Qualify CPT Course.

4. Register with the BoS for the Intermediate Course.

5. Complete 8 months of study

6. Appear and Pass in either or both Groups of Intermediate Course

7. Successfully complete Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before commencement of the practical training

8. Register for Three years Practical Training on passing either or both the Groups of Intermediate.

9. Register for the Final Course after qualifying both the Groups of Intermediate Course.

10. Successfully complete Four Weeks Advanced ICITSS during the last two years of Practical Training.

11. Complete Practical Training.

12. Appear in the Final examination after completion of practical training and Advanced ICITSS.

13. Become Member.

Note‬: ICAI has decided in principle the above-mentioned Scheme. However, the scheme will be notified in the official Gazette in due course.

CA New Syllabus 2018 | Direct Entry Route

CA CPT Study Material and Practice Manual: Revised Scheme: Route II – Direct Entry Route

The ICAI allows Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates (with minimum 55% marks) or Other Graduates/Post-Graduates (with minimum 60% marks) and Intermediate level passed students of Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Cost Accountants of India to enter directly to its Intermediate Course. The following steps are required to be undertaken by the eligible Graduates and Post Graduates under this route:

1. Register with the BOS for the Intermediate course (provisional registration allowed to the students doing a Final year of graduation).

2. Successfully complete Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before the commencement of the practical training.

3. Register for Three Years Practical Training.

4. Appear in Intermediate Examination after Nine months of Practical Training.

5. Qualify Intermediate Course.

6. Register for the Final Course after qualifying both Groups of Intermediate Course.

7. Successfully complete Four Weeks Advanced ICITSS during the last two years of Practical Training.

8. Complete Practical Training.

9. Appear in the Final examination after completion of practical training and Advanced ICITSS.

10. Become Member

Note: Candidates who have passed the Intermediate level examination of ICSI or ICWAI and enter the CA Intermediate course directly shall be treated at par with CPT passed students and shall have to undergo the CA course in the manner as into the CPT passed students.

CA CPT Syllabus | CA CPT Registration : 

CA CPT Study Material and Practice Manual : A student is required to apply in the prescribed form.

A student may buy prospectus remitting Rs.1500. The application form is available in the prospectus.

Alternatively, the application form can be downloaded from icai website
icaiexam.icai.org . While submitting the filled-in application form, a student has to remit Rs.1000 for prospectus along with registration and tuition fee.
The Prospectus can also be procured by post from any of the offices of the Institute on payment of Rs.540 (Rs.40 on account of postal charge).

CA CPT Eligibility Criteria :

Following is given the requisite CA CPT 2018 eligibility criteria:

  • Students must have passed Standard X examination or equivalent and they must have registered with the Board of Studies to appear in the CPT after appearing in the Class XII examination.
  • Candidates, who have passed B.Com, M.Com, LLB, ICWA, CS or MBA in their first attempt, are also eligible to appear the exam.
  • The aspirants, who have appeared or are appearing in the final year of the qualifying exam, are also eligible to appear in the exam.
  • Any candidate, who has got themselves registered for CPT on or before April 1 and October 1 to appear in the examination conducted in June and December respectively each year, is eligible.

After getting registered with the Board of Studies, eligible candidate can either submit the prescribed filled in online application form, or can download the application form online and send it to the Deputy Secretary (Examinations) at New Delhi office after filling it in before the deadline.

CA CPT Fees for registration:

CA CPT Syllabus – The registration and tuition fee is Rs.3500, which is to be remitted along with filled in application form. In case a student submits downloaded application form, he should remit Rs.4000 (Rs.500 for Prospectus. A copy of the Prospectus will be sent to him along with the study package). This fee structure is applicable for (i) Indian students residing in India and other SAARC Countries and Bhutan; and (ii) students belonging to other SAARC countries and Bhutan.

The following students have to pay fees amounting to US$ 200:

(i) Students of foreign countries other than SAARC countries and Bhutan; and
(ii) Indian Students residing abroad other than SAARC countries and Bhutan

CA CPT Syllabus – There are 4 subjects in CA CA CPT Syllabus i;e Fundamentals of Accounting, Mercantile Law, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. Sub: Implementation of Revised Scheme of Education and Training for CA Course w.e.f. 1st July, 2017.

All concerned are hereby informed that the Revised Scheme of Education and Training for CA course will come into effect from 1st July, 2017. Students who are eligible to register in the CPT/IIPCC/Final under the existing scheme, may register on or before 30th June, 2017. With effect from 1st July, 2017, the registration in the CPT/IIPCC/Final under the existing scheme will discontinue.

Minimum Passing Marks For CA CPT :

CA CPT Syllabus  – A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 30 per cent marks in each Section and a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate in all the four Sections to pass the Common Proficiency Test.

CA CPT Syllabus – In other words, it is clarified that if a candidate secures a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate but fails to secure the minimum marks required in any one or more of the sections A, B, C or D (as mentioned above), his result will be FAIL. Similarly, if a candidate secures a minimum of 30per cent marks in each section but fails to secure 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all sections,his result will be FAIL.
