CA IPCC Passing marks / Qualifying marks -November 2018

CA IPCC group 1 and 2 Minimum Qualifying Marks

An aggregate of 50% in all the papers together is required to qualify in the examination. A candidate is considered to have passed the IPCC if he passes both the groups constituting this level. He/she may get through the groups in one or more attempts either together or separately.

A student is said to have passed both the groups together if he secures a minimum of 40 marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all the papers of both the groups put together.

For a particular group, a student is said to have passed one of the groups if he secures a minimum of 40 marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all the papers of that group.

Passing Criteria for CA IPCC Exam Nov 2018 Exam

A candidate is required to appear and pass the IPCC Exam , group-wise and not paper wise.

The passing requirement as per CA Regulations, 1988 are as follows:

  1. If the candidate may appear in both the groups simultaneously or in one group in one examination and in the remaining group at any subsequent examination . It will ordinarily be declared to have passed the Examination only when he passes in both the groups.
  2. Student shall ordinarily be declared to have passed in both the groups simultaneously, when –
    • They secure at one sitting a minimum of 40 marks in each paper of each of the groups and minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all the papers of each of the groups; or
    • They secure at one sitting a minimum of 40 marks in each paper of both the groups and a minimum 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all the papers of both the groups taken together.
  3. A candidate shall be declared to have passed in a group if he secures at one sitting a minimum of 40 per cent marks in each paper of the group and minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all the papers of that group.

Thus, it may be noticed that passing requirements of the Chartered Accountancy Examinations are Group-wise and not paper-wise as may be the case in other examinations.

Exemption Rules in a Paper of IPCC

Student who appears in all the papers of a Group. If they fail in that Group but secures a minimum of 60 percent marks in any one or more papers of the that Group. This is exempted from appearing in the that paper for the next following three examinations. He will be eligible to appear in any of the following three examinations in the papers in which he secured less than 60 percent marks and shall be declared to have passed in that group if he secures at one sitting a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of such papers and a minimum of 50 percent of the total marks of all the papers of that group including the paper or papers in which he had secured a minimum of 60 percent marks in the earlier examination referred to above.

The marks obtained by him in the paper(which he is granted exemption). It will be carried forward automatically for the next three examinations. Further. He will not be granted any exemption in any other paper of the same Group. Even though he may secure a minimum of 60 per cent marks in a paper. He may secure as long as the exemption granted to him earlier in any of the papers of that Group is valid.

It may be noted that a candidate is eligible for exemption Group-wise.

      Passing criteria for IPCC:
      You have to score atleast 40 marks in all 7 subjects and aggregate of marks of all subject 350 or more for both group. (if you appear group wise than it would be 200 for group 1 and 150 for group 2.)
      If you score 60 or more in one or more subject and you fail in exam then you will get exemption in exam from the subject to which you got 60 or more marks. (in simple term if you fail, in next attempt you don’t need to give exam of the paper in which you got 60 or more marks.)
