Notification for CA intermediate new syllabus as on 24 October 2019

“Corrigendum in the Study Material of  Paper 2: Corporate and Other Laws (Intermediate Level, New course) in the printed copy (Edition: July, 2019) In Chapter 7, on page 7.66, in Example 2, the words ‘unless an extension of maximum 3 months is granted by RoC to hold the AGM’ are to be deleted. The same change has been carried in the material hosted on the website of the Institute.”

“Corrigendum in the Study Material of Paper 2: Corporate and Other Laws (Intermediate Level, New course) in the printed copy (Edition: July, 2017)
In Chapter 7, on page 7.51, The answer to Example 2 will be read as, ‘According to section 96(1), the company’s financial year will close on 31st March 2017. The company may hold its first AGM by 31st December 2017, i.e. within 9 months of the close of its financial year.’

As you may be aware, CA profession is undergoing a rapid transformation and CA professionals are producing excellence in a variety of professional fields and spheres challenging the stereotype.

CA Inter new Syllabus – Emerging borderless economies, surge in IT development and resulting complexities, increasing emphasis on CSR, and, above all, increasing strategic importance of CA professionals as complete business solution provider, have all contributed to this transformation.

CA Inter new Syllabus – At ICAI, we are in the final stages of implementing a new scheme of education and training with an objective to prepare more competent, better equipped and more responsible generation of chartered accountants. Nelson Mandela said: Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

CA Inter new Syllabus – In line with the relevant International Education Standards of IFAC, this new course curriculum has been designed to benchmark the Indian CA education with the best in the world and make our students and future members of the CA fraternity more competent and multifarious professionals, and enablers of compliance and fiscal discipline.

Highlights of the New Revised CA Intermediate Syllabus ICAI

  • The President of ICAI, M.Devaraja Reddy, announced that the new CA Syllabus has been approved by the Corporate Affairs ministry and yet to be approved by the Law Affairs Ministry.
  • Once approved, it is likely to be made applicable from November 2017 exams. Existing students under the old syllabus will be a chance for a few attempts before being converted to the new curriculum.
  • Under the new syllabus, many changes were brought in all three levels i.e., CPT, IPCC, and Final.
  • CPT will then be for 400 marks, with two theory and two objective type papers.
  • CA IPCC will have 8 subjects. Ethics and Communication part will be removed from Law Paper. Financial Management will then be moved to second group carrying 100 marks.
  • CA Final will have a new subject named ‘Capital Markets’ in the Second Group, for 50 Marks sharing the paper with ISCA.

 

ICAI CA Intermediate Syllabus for May/November 2019/2020

CA Intermediate Syllabus | Advance Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS)

Duration: 4 weeks (2 weeks for soft skills and 2 weeks for Advance IT)

When to complete: Students undergoing Practical training shall be required to do AICITSS during the last 2 years of Practical training but to complete the same before appearing in the Final Examination.

Assessment Test: An assessment test shall be conducted at the end of the course which the students have to qualify for being eligible to appear in the Final Examination.

CA Intermediate new Syllabus – The ICAI has issued a set of 57 FAQs to clarify the queries which may arise in the mind of students/ stakeholders with regard to the Revised CA Intermediate new Syllabus Course (Intermediate/ Final/ ICITSS/ AICITSS), which are to be implemented w.e.f. 1 July 2017, as under:

Q: Under the Revised Scheme what is the nomenclature for all the three levels?

CA Intermediate new Syllabus: The three levels will now be called Foundation, Intermediate and Final in place of earlier levels i.e. Common Proficiency Course (CPC), Intermediate (Integrated Proficiency Competence) Course and Final.

Q: When was the first examination going to be held at all levels under the Revised Scheme?

CA Intermediate new Syllabus: In May 2018.

Q: When can I register for the Intermediate Course?

CA Intermediate new Syllabus: A student can register in Intermediate Course w e f 1st July 2017, if qualified PE I /CPT/ Foundation or if joining through Direct Entry Route.

Q: When are the Intermediate Examinations held and what is the cut-off date of registration in Intermediate?

CA Intermediate new Syllabus: The Intermediate Examinations will be held in the month of May and November every year. 1st Sep. and 1st March is the cut-off date for registration for being eligible to appear in May and November examinations respectively under the Foundation Route.

Q: I am through Direct Entry Route, when can I commence Practical Training?

CA Intermediate Syllabus: Immediately after registering for Intermediate Course and successful completion of Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS), you can commence Practical Training.

Q: I have qualified Intermediate level examination of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India, when can I commence Practical Training?

CA Intermediate Syllabus: After passing either or both groups of Intermediate examination and successfully completing the Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS), you can commence Practical Training.

Q: Is the revised syllabus applicable for a student registered in the existing scheme?

CA Intermediate Syllabus for May 2018: The syllabus of GMCS and Advanced ITT will be applicable for both the student registered in existing as well as the Revised Scheme in the courses conducted w.e.f 1st July 2017.

Q: When can I undergo Advanced ICITSS?

CA Intermediate Syllabus for May 2018: Advance ICITSS can be undergone anytime during the last 2 years of Practical Training but compulsorily before appearing for the final examination under the Revised Scheme.

Q: I am a student under the existing scheme and have undergone GMCS and Advanced ITT. Do I need to undergo Advanced ICITSS?

Ans: No. The students under the existing scheme who have undergone GMCS and Advanced ITT are not required to undergo Advanced ICITSS

Q: I am a student under the existing scheme and have not undergone GMCS and Advanced ITT. Do I need to undergo Advanced ICITSS?

CA Intermediate Syllabus: Yes. You have to undergo Advanced ICITSS before applying for membership of the Institute

Q: What is the duration of undergoing the Advanced ICITSS course?

CA Intermediate Syllabus: The duration of undergoing the course is four weeks.
