CA CPT Exam Eligibility Criteria- The candidates who aspire to apply for CA CPT 2018 must go through the CA CPT Exam Eligibility Criteria 2018, so that they know their eligibility before applying for the coveted exam. CA CPT Exam Eligibility Criteria and Qualification is very simple. CPT is open for candidates who have registered to Common Proficiency Course with the Board of Studies of the Institute and have appeared or passed or going to appear in April/May, 2018 in 12th class or equivalent recognised examination*. This is an objective type examination of 200 marks comprising of four sections.

* As per a recent decision of the Council of the ICAI, candidates with certain higher qualifications are also eligible to appear in CPT (for complete details , please see clause 36

The candidates who fulfil the required eligibility criteria can only apply for CPT 2018. It is mandatory that the student is registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

CA CPT Exam Eligibility Criteria- June 2018 exam

The Eligibility for CA / CA CPT Exam eligibility criteria 2018 is as follows:

  • You must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • You must be registered for the Common Proficiency Test with the Board of Studies of the Indian Chartered Accountancy of India (ICAI).
  • Even if you have already registered for the Professional Course, you are eligible for appearing in this test.
  • There is no age limit for CPT exam.

As decided by the Council, the registration to the Common Proficiency Course is valid for a period of 3 years and the student is required to revalidate the same from the concerned Regional Office on expiry of the said period. Further, in order to be eligible for the examination, the student must be having a valid Registration number on the date of application to the Examination. Accordingly, please ensure that your Registration to Common Proficiency Course is valid as on date of filling Examination Application Form.

CA CPT Exam Application Fee:

For offline candidates: Rs. 1000 (exam + application form)

For online candidates: Rs. 500 (only exam fee)

The Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to pursue different levels of Chartered Accountancy courses in its institute. Any person who wants to become a member of ICAI and designate himself as a Chartered Accountant in India has to pass this course.

It consists of three levels of examinations and three years of practical training under a practising Chartered Accountant. CPT is conducted twice a year (June & December) & IPCC & CA Final exams are held during the months of May & November.

IPCC or Integrated Professional Competence Course is the second level of Chartered Accountancy examinations. A person can take the IPCC Examination after passing CPT and nine months of study.

CA Final Examination is the last and final level of Chartered Accountancy Examinations. Any person who has passed both the groups of IPCC, during the last six months of article-ship can take the final examination.

Exemption from Appearing in CA CPT

Candidates who are graduate or post graduate in Commerce having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University) with certain subjects OR Graduates or Post Graduates other than those falling under Commerce stream mentioned above having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University) are exempted from passing CPT.

The Common Proficiency Test (CPT) in Paper-pencil Mode (PP Mode) will be held on 12th June, 2016 in accordance with the revised scheme of education, training and examination for the Chartered Accountancy Course. It is a 4 hours duration test comprising of two sessions of 2 hours each with a break between two sessions. The Test will comprise of objective type questions with negative marking for choosing wrong answers.

  1. A student who has appeared in the Class 12 examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India (or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto) may register for Foundation Course.
  2. A registered student may appear in Foundation Examination after he/ she has qualified the Senior Secondary Examination* (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India (or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto) and has complied with such requirements as may be specified by the Council from time to time.
  3. A student who has got himself/ herself registered for Foundation Course And has undergone a minimum of four months study period is eligible to appear in the Foundation Examination, i.e., students registered on or before 30th June/31 st December will be eligible to appear in November/May Examination respectively. Foundation Examinations are held in May & November every year.

CA CPT Eligibility Criteria :

For pursuing Chartered Accountancy course, there is no upper age limit. Candidates whether undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate, may register for the Common Proficiency Test, irrespective of age, percentage of marks and stream of education.

The only mandatory thing to pursue Chartered Accountancy course is Common Proficiency Test. Candidates holding any qualification needs to qualify this test in order to be considered eligible for Integrated Professional Competence Course.

Q 5. What is registration cancellation policy for CA CPT exam?

CA CPT Eligibility Criteria : Once you filled the form you cannot cancel the exam. In other words cancellation is not possible and you will also not get any refund.
