Definition of "Production"

Production is transformation of inputs into the output. If a producer wants to produce more output he must increase the quantities of inputs. Thus physical amount of output depends upon the physical amount of inputs. This kind of relationship between inputs and output is described as production function. Thus production function refers to functional relationship between the rate of inputs and rate of output.
