Definition of "Multi-tasking"

Multi-tasking refers to the operating system’s ability to execute two or more of a single user’s task concurrently. Multi-tasking is often used with single-user operating system. Single user operating system is generally used with microcomputers; which normally allows you to perform only one task at a time. For microcomputers, multi-tasking operating provide single user with multiprogramming capabilities. This is often accomplished through foreground/background processing.
